  FAQ - Travelling with Questropix

Q. How level of fitness should I have?

There are many different factors that contribute to the difficulty of a particular trip, including, length of day, terrain, altitude and weather conditions. All our trips are graded, allowing you to choose a suitable trip. Please refer to our grading system on the ‘Grades’ section on this website. Although we have tried to make our grading system as clear as possible, it cannot take into account your personal interests, abilities or experience. In addition to reading this information and the individual holiday description, it is VERY IMPORTANT that before booking any holiday you should read the associated trip dossier

Q. What level of comfort can I expect?

We make sure that your holiday is a trouble free and comfortable as well. We use only tourist standard luxury Hotels while in urban areas and use only comfortable private vehicles for transportations. On our Lodge/ teahouse treks we have scrutinized the lodges along the trek thoroughly and have selected some of the best lodges in the area with comfort and hygiene in mind. On camping treks we use the best equipments. All your gear is carried (except where specified) and meals are cooked for you while our staff prepare the camp. We provide the best possible camping service complete with comfortable two person tents, a mess tent and toilet tent.

Please refer to our “Teahouse” and “Camping” sections website

Q. What about environmental impact?

We try to maintain the delicate balance of cultural and ecology of the area by traveling in smaller groups to minimize our impact, and leave only footprints behind, thus making it a beneficial experience for everyone involved. We believe that a sound working relationship with the people and environments in which we operate is very important and we ensure to establish that. In our treks, our staff ensures that all the garbage left over after the nights camp, are carefully disposed.

Q. Can I organise a tailor made itinirary?

If the specified departure dates are not suitable, or you would like to vary the itinerary, we would be happy to devise a programme to suit your travel interests. This service is available to any individual or group. However for larger groups there may be a price reduction. We regularly organise tailor-made holidays for families, groups of friends, schools, clubs and special interest groups and we’d be happy to advise you on your plans.

Q. What is included in my trip?

In our packages we ensure that we incorporate as many inclusions as possible in your trip to minimize any out of pocket expenses while you are away. It is important that you refer to our “service included” section mentioned below every trips notes for the exact inclusions.

Q. Are there any hidden extras or surcharges?

All our trips include all transport, most meals, accommodation and much of the equipment you will need for your adventure. Once you leave home there is little to spend, mostly on shopping and going around the town on your own. Compare our quality, inclusions and daily rates and we think you will agree our holidays represent the best value around.

Q. How often is a trip cancelled?

The minimum number of people required for a trip is 2-- so you can be confident of going on the trip of your choice.

Q. What is AMS?

AMS stands for acute mountain sickness . The general symptoms are severe headaches, nausea, lethargy, loss of appetite serious breathlessness even at rest.  Generally headaches and breathlessness are common at altitude which in itself is nothing to worry about.  In rare cases, this may worsen to Acute Mountain sickness (AMS),
If not taken care properly, it could be extremely dangerous and sometimes fatal. A close watch is kept on all trekkers by the group leader who is trained to recognize the symptoms of AMS.

The greatest provocation is going too high too fast. Questropix’s itinerary has been carefully designed to minimize the affects of altitude. We ascend slowly and surely allowing enough time for safe acclimatization.
If any trekkers show such signs they will be descended to relatively lower and safer altitude. The Group Leader's decision on evacuating such person to a safe altitude is final.
Do not medicate yourself without first informing your group leader.

  AMS can be prevented

Going to altitude slowly with adequate rest and adequate intake of fluid (3 to 4 liters per day), you will most likely have no problems apart from breathlessness on hills which is completely normal as the percentage of Oxygen in the air is relatively lower to that at sea level.
The most important thing is not to worry about altitude because our team is there to take care of you.

It should be noted that we take sufficient no. of rest days beyond 3400m to get acclimatized to high altitude and take immense care and precautions for the clients to avoid the risks of high altitude.
