Tibet, a mysterious land is situated on the highest and largest Plateau on earth, encompassing over 2.1 million square kilometers.
For thousands of years, Tibet lay under the Ancient Sea of Tethys. Eighty million years ago, the Indian subcontinent crashed into Asia, Pushing up the Himalayas, lifting the Ocean bed above water, and creating this magical land.
Its entire southern boundary is the Himalayas and its western boundary is the equally rugged Karokoram range.
Between these two ranges are found all the fourteen of the 8000m+ peaks including Mt. Everest. Tibet is often identified as a desolate, cold windswept desert on the roof of the world, but nothing is far from truth. Tibet has an unusually diverse and strikingly beautiful landscape of snowcapped mountain ranges where three of the Asia's largest rivers have their sources. lush rhododendron and conifer forest and fertile agricultural valleys and beautiful lakes.
